REQUEST FOR BIDS

The Tawas Area School is soliciting sealed bid proposals for a Contractor to remove an existing 14’-6” x 12’-7” x 7’H walk-in freezer and then furnish and install a new similarly sized walk-in freezer in the same location near the high school cafeteria.  Existing refrigeration equipment shall be reused.  The plans and specifications cover all of the requirements.  Engineered drawings and specifications have been prepared by Russo Engineering, Inc.  There will be no organized site visit.  Bids will be accepted until 1:00 PM, Tuesday August 6, 2024 at the Superintendent/Admin Office, at 245 M-55, Tawas City, MI 48763, at which time they will be publicly opened and read.  Deliberation will take place at the next school board meeting.  Bids are to be submitted in a sealed envelope marked as, “TAHS WALK-IN FREEZER”.  Bid Bonds and Payment & Performance Bonds will be required.  Bid documents will be available for a non-refundable $20 per project set with an additional non-refundable $10 if the documents are mailed, beginning July 3, 2024, from Russo Engineering, 225 6th Ave./PO Box 187, Tawas City, MI 48764, phone (989) 362-7735.  Bidding documents may be examined at the office of Russo Engineering after that date. 

            Tawas Area Schools reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and make the award of a firm, fixed-price contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder in any manner deemed in their best interest. 

            Construction shall occur during one of two school district breaks; Thanksgiving (11/27-12/1/24) or Christmas (12/21/24-1/5/25).  Regardless, the project must start and complete within a single break period so as to not interrupt cafeteria operations while school is in session.  If requested, the apparent low bidders may be asked to provide references.  There will be no liquidated damages.
